Two of three.
Entered in the 2008 IBC betta show’s art competition hosted by the California Betta Society. Placed third, which is ironic since this is my favorite of the trio.

Awww... I love bettas myself, and this reminds me of a dark plakat giant male that I had... he had a bit of a chin on him, this is his exact expression.
(sadly, the poor thing died of sudden fin rot, none of the anti-fungal tablets seemed to make him any better! :( Very unfortunate, as he was a b-day gift from a friend)

The gleam in his eyes and on his body is wonderful here, he seems almost moonlit. Besides, blue is also my favorite color, so that makes it even more a favorite for me...
by the way, what medium is this exactly? Looks like acrylic. Whatever it is, well done! :)

I lost a favorite blue PK to some type of strange finrot also. I hate losing fish!

Thank you! It's prismacolor colored pencil with acrylics (the white).

Ah, I was so close! But you did use acrylics, so I was halfway right... :XD: Lovely image!

Me too. It's always the ones that I get really attached to. I have a mismatched pair sharing a split 2 1/2 gallon right now that I adore to pieces, so glad they're still alive.
And yet my two retarded goldfish have soiled their tank on multiple occasions to the point of being unbearable, and yet they have lived through everything. Don't get me wrong, I still love the dumb things... But they are so filthy!

I always thought the plakats were better at resisting diseases, apparently not in some cases. So very sad.

Yes! Almost there! Haha

Oh yeah, I have two ryukins and a wakkin in a pond. None too bright in the head and one of my ryukins has a messed up swim bladder, but I still love them all.

But I think I have a deeper connection with the smarter bettas. I have a blue and cello redhead DT in a planted 2.5 and he's getting really old now. D:

Indeedy. I had several of my old ones die in the last year or so... this winter was hard on them, couldn't keep the apartment quite warm enough. Really sad. Of course, that could be what I get for buying from a pet store, too... Regardless, I loved them. They are clever AND beautiful.
